1- Membership: Dear Members, CSIFNS is a non-for profit member drive
organization. Your collected memberships allows CSIFNS to provide the
venues such as seminars and networking events which members can benefit
socially, scientifically, and professionally to expand their network.
Please confirm your patron-ship and renew your 2007 membership.


2- Publication Committee: CSIFNS Publication committee has started to
publish food and nutritional scientific articles for Farsi readerships in
Shaharvand newspaper. The first article of these series is written by Dr.
Firouz Jahani-Aval, titled "Selecting the suitable edible oils for frying"
at February 01, 2007 issue.  Dr. Jahani-Aval has discussed the chemistry
behind selecting the right oil for frying.  Full article can be found at

A meeting will be called in order to expand the editorial boad and address
the areas of qualifications. Interested members are invited to join in by

3- Food Handler Safety Program Workshop: in cooperation with the City of
Toronto, a Farsi speaker food safety instructor will go through the
process of obtaining the certificate as well as the food safety
information related to the food service/retailers.

When: Monday February 19, from 6-8:30 p.m.

4- Thank You Volunteers It is with sincere appreciation to say "thank you"
to the volunteers who assisted the CSIFNS with November 05 event. They
worked tirelessly and it would not have been possible to organize and
execute this event without there help.

5-  Mentorship Job Search Program; was launched on Sunday Nov 12 by
ICNetwork-JVS  and CSIFNS partnership . Participants have benefited from
this program and have learned skills such as; how to reach the prospect
food company, writing the perfect food science resume as well as food
science specific interview skills. Mr. Iraj Mehrnia (Mentor) and Hamid
Aliee (Co-mentor) have helped the mentees through 5 official sessions and
ongoing support. The last meeting is to be held on February 4.

This year the program is benefiting from possibility of 8-12 week co-op
opportunities for mentees which is provided with Federal or provincial
government findings through JVS. CSIFNS would like to ask for your help
with placing the mentees as short term employees in your organizations.

6- Introduction to Project Management Professional; ICNtwork is organizing
a workshop on "Introduction to Project Management Professional" on Sunday
February 11/2007 at the North York Civic Centre. Council Chamber. The
session starts at 11 am and will take about 4 hours. Please mark the date
in your calendar for this important and informative workshop. Other
details and the agenda will follow shortly.


7- HACCP Advantage™ Expo 2007, Once again OMAF food safety team has
organized a two day HACCP training course to be held in Mississauga on
march 20 and 21. It will cost $120/person for two day Expo Pass and
$65/person for one day. Both include parking
